Here’s how we’ll catalyze your fundraising capacity:
“GROWTH CAMPS”
We’ll organize 2 complex learning events to discuss your vision, your projects, and other important topics, such as the funding outlook Romania and abroad, communication, the role of a board, the importance of fundraising plan and about the skills of a good fundraiser.
You’ll spend 3 days in the company of our team and our Norwegian project partner, our expert guests and the other 12 NGOs of the selected cohort, surrounded by silence, outside the city, in a quiet landscape.Â
Direct support
Your plans won’t remain in the Cloud. We’ll stay by your side, supporting you in your journey of finding and accessing funding.
For 18 months, we’ll provide you with feedback, guidance, solutions, tools, and various templates.
We will build an agile fundraising system for you and we’ll track the results together.
Mentorship
To make sure you stand high chances of achieving your goals, we’ll meet with you every month. We are passionate about working with young NGOs.
If you face various obstacles, throughout your fundraising journey, our network of mentors will help you overcome those in sessions of 1, 3, 6 or 9 meetings, depending on the complexity of the problem you are facing.

IS IT FOR ME?
IF YOUR NGO IS:
An urban NGO
- A rural NGO or an NGO operating in a small city/town
That works in one of the following areas:
- Local or community development or Education or Social
AND, AT THE datE OF apPLICATION
- You had a yearly budget of maximum 50,000 EUR / year
- You have a dedicated team of minimum 2 people – employees or volunteers
- Your organization implemented at least 2 relevant projects
- You can outline a growth vision for your organization
AND, administrativELY:
- You function in compliance with local statutory laws and fiscal regulations, you are not under judiciary liquidation and you respect the values of the ACF program and Synerb.
AND YOU ARE LOOKING FOR:
- A supportive micro-community and a space to grow your organization.
- To diversify your funding, to increase your NGOs budget, to learn how to build a fundraising system and to grow your organization in the company of likeminded colleagues from the sector.
- To redefine your ways of working, your vision and your organizational impact.
- Mentors and experienced professionals, committed to support you for 18 months.
YOU CAN COMMIT:

3 days / year to participate at the Growth Camps, together with the other 11 visionary NGOs.

One support meeting / month (2 hours) with the Synerb team.Â

Between 2 and 18 hours / throughout the program to work with a mentor from our network, depending on your needs. (optional)

Time to ask for feedback, work on your fundraising documents, do project writing and brainstorming sessions for other magic activities to increase funding for your organization.

Meet the people who will help you become a Visionary organisation. We’ll work together for 18 months to redefine fundraising in your NGOs.
TEAM
Sonia Oprean
Program Director, Synerb
Role and support
Sonia Oprean is the Co-founder & Managing Partner of Synerb Venture Catalyzer and the Director of the Visionary program.
She has extensive experience in management consulting and financial services throughout 3 geographies: The Philippines, Romania and India. She started her journey in the social entrepreneurship sector working for Villgro Innovations Foundation, India, and continued as the Senior Portfolio Manager of NESsT Romania. She is an experienced trainer and an active mentor, providing strategic planning support on Finance, Business Performance Management, Human Resources & Governance, Fundraising and Impact Measurement to a significant number of social enterprises and visionary NGOs. For almost 10 years, Sonia is a Board Member of Mai Bine, one of the pioneer organizations working for sustainable development in Romania. Â
Zoltan Bereczki
Mentoring, training and support, Synerb
Role and support
Zoltan is the co-founder and the president of Synerb, an organization committed to catalyze the potential of purpose-driven entrepreneurs and visionary NGOs.Â
Zoltan works for more than 10 year in the social entrepreneurship field and for over 20 years in the NGO sector. He was a Board Member and the Romanian Country Director of the international organization NESsT, then, for seven years, the Regional Portfolio Director for Romania and the Balkans. He contributed to the growth and development of over 200 social enterprises and nonprofit organizations through strategic advisory services, training and tailored consulting. Â
Before joining NESsT, he developed a series of economic development and international cooperation programs with the Euroregional Center for Democracy, specifically in the Balkans and Central Europe. He is a member of numerous local organisations and an Aspen Fellow. He is an active jury member and advisor in several social entrepreneurship and nonprofit capacity building programs and impact competitions (CSR Awards, Social Impact Award, West University of Timișoara) and he is involved in a number of projects developing the social entrepreneurship and nonprofit sectors in the region.
Mara Oltean
Financial Management and Operational support
Role and support
Mara is the operational and financial manager of Synerb. Mara was the Finance Specialist of NESsT and the Euroregional Center for Democracy. For the past 20 years, Mara has been leading the financial management of over 75 programs and organisations working with public and private funds.
Mentors
Alexandra Popa
Executive Director, CRPE
Role and support
Alexandra Popa will provide support in the areas of strategic development, institutional fundraising and proposals writing.
Alexandra is the President and Executive Director of the Romanian Centre for European Policies (CRPE), one of the most important think tanks in Romania. She has over 14 years of experience in the NGO sector. Since 2012, Alexandra has been coordinating CRPE’s research and advocacy projects on public policies in the fields of agriculture, rural development, inclusion of vulnerable groups and vocational and technical education.
Ciprian Stănescu
President, Social Innovation Solutions
Role and support
Ciprian Stănescu will support young NGOs to increase their knowledge and effectiveness in accessing corporate sponsorships.
Ciprian Stănescu is the President of Social Innovation Solutions, an organization offering consultancy and support for NGOs and corporations on sustainability, foresight and innovation. Ciprian worked for 12 years for global organizations such as Ashoka and the Aspen Institute, he is a Global Shaper Alumni of the World Economic Forum, co-founder of Global Shapers Bucharest Hub & and Board Member of Rethink Romania. He teaches at The Entrepreneurship Academy in Bucharest and holds an MA in Political Science from the Central European University in Budapest.
Mihaela Vețan
President, CRIES
Role and support
Mihaela Vețan will ensure support and guidance in the process of writing funding proposals.
Mihaela studied Political Science and has a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Advocacy from the University of West, TimiÈ™oara. She is one of the founders of CRIES – Centre of Resources for Ethical and Solidarity Initiatives –  an organization that runs programs to support an economy based on solidarity and equity, focusing on responsible consumption, fair trade, community supported agriculture, and participatory democracy. Over the last 15 years, she facilitated the development of several local economy and sustainable development participatory models: the ASAT partnerships between small local producers and solidarity consumer groups (since 2008), Reciproc Café & Bakery (since 2015), LA PAS. artisan gastronomy festival (2019), INTERSECT (2021), an initiative to combat food waste.
Cătălina Azamfirei Marcu
Co-founder, Consolid8
Role and support
Cătălina will provide direct support to NGOs from the cohort interested in crafting and deploying a crowdfunding campaign.
Cătălina is the Co-Founder and Campaign Manager of consolid8, a crowdfunding expert and an aspiring social entrepreneur. She has mentored and trained an impressive number of people – over 650 – in designing and implementing their crowdfunding campaigns. Cătălina defines herself as a “Solutions creator”, because she manages to contribute with clear and tailored solutions to her clients’ needs. A certified marketing and communications expert, she tailors strategies suitable for the non-profit and start-up environment.
Florin Ghindă
Founder and trainer, România Pozitivă
Role and support
Florin va ghida ONG-urile tinere în procesul de generare a oportunităților de finanțare.
Florin are 20 ani de experiență ca trainer pentru circa 10.000 de participanți, iar domeniile de expertiză includ: facilitare de procese de învățare, orientarea spre soluție, antreprenoriat social, business model, train the trainers & facilitators, design thinking, managementul echipelor, management de proiect, recrutare şi selecţie, comunicare, teambuilding. Florin este educator de emoție și gând pozitiv și Fondator al platformei de informație și educație pozitivă RomaniaPozitiva.ro.
Georgiana Vieru Horoșincu
Community builder, Rubik Hub
Role and support
Georgiana will enable the NGOs to develop programs and strategies to attract individual funding and organize effective fundraising events.
Georgiana has 15 years of experience in the NGO sector and she has been – for almost 2 years – a community builder for a Romanian start-up community. She is deeply interested about the field of education in Romania and about the human rights, especially of the vulnerable. Over the years, she has organized several events and campaigns bringing people together – individuals and company representatives – for the causes she believes in.
Georgiana believes in the strength of communities and that when several people come together with a genuine desire to solve a problem, they will surely find the resources to find a solution. In her spare time, she cooks, reads and travels.
Iulia Botar
CSR and Communications Director, Graffiti PR
Role and support?
Iulia will support the NGOs from our cohort in improving communications.Â
During the past 10 years at Graffiti PR, she has worked for clients in various industries such as technology, banking, energy, retail or automotive, driving their communications and CSR programs in order to generate community impact.
She is currently coordinating a team developing CSR-sustainability strategies, programs and communication plans in fields such education, health, environment, community development or entrepreneurship.Â
She believes in co-built impact: matching society needs with brand involvement and stakeholder engagement. During the past years, Iulia has worked with NGOs from different areas, both in building their communication and fundraising capabilities and in developing partnerships with the private sector. Â
